Sadabahar was developed for Label Surabhi Raj in June 2022, a Jaipur-based label working with natural fabrics, handloom and craft-led textiles. Inspired by the periwinkle, a flower that grows almost effortlessly across India and has quietly been part of everyday life, the collection explored its simple forms and understated presence. These became the starting point for block-print patterns, woven textiles and womenswear silhouettes. Jamdani and yarn-dyed checks were developed and woven in West Bengal, while the blocks were made in Farrukhabad and printing was carried out in Jaipur. Moving between drawing, sampling and production brought an understanding of how an idea changes as it travels through different materials, techniques and regions.
